the best way to keep your manual off the internet (if you're a hardware manufacturer who is a bastard, which is most of them) is just to make sure you have a single page pamphlet with some basic specs and make sure that's uploaded.

there's several hundred results for this SBC and all of them are the marketing overview, just labeled "datasheet"

I found the pinout, and I almost wish I hadn't.This one connector includes PCI, IDE, RS232 serial, USB, PS/2, AC97 audio, PC Speaker, and the reset pin.

@foone Real "arson, murder and jaywalking" vibe to that one. Do we get pics of this abomination of a connector?

@emily I should have guessed! (actually this thing only has 6 pins, in 3 connectors, and only 4 of them are documented)

gah. I haven't even tried to install windows on this thing yet and already I can tell that their instructions are wrong. They tell you to install a driver file that exists on the CD, but not where they tell you it is

@foone ohh i wanted one of those bad boys so badly back when they were new! It was the closest thing to a raspberry pi (along with the gumstix) 😊

@foone I hate this, I've tried to find several data sheets and that's all that shows up for anything interesting.

@foone wait, is that an SBC with a memory socket, that also connects to the same "memory socket" form factor connector?! You could make a (non-functional, presumably) spiral of these bad girls!

@foone my goodness that is a pet peeve of mine. IMO there should be a standard language with which we use to talk about; datasheets, manuals, references.

@NanoRaptor @agmlego @Stormgren yeah I've got a connector something like that on a radar/camera system I took apart. This one port is ethernet and power and GPIO and serial.

@foone @NanoRaptor @agmlego Yeah, I have a PTZ mount for a camera that has camera controls, motor drive/power, video and a couple other things in a connector like that, and the crazy part is that most of it then goes through a slip ring / rotary joint type thing because the whole thing spins. It's wild.

@foone @NanoRaptor @agmlego @Stormgren dang, you know they weren't overly concerned with BOM pricing when they're dropping a MIL-DTL-38999 Series I connector with Ethernet-rated inserts on there.

@foone I recall wanting one so bad for wearable computing, but making PCB with the socket was out of reach for a college student. Pi users have it so easy these days! We had to settle for pc104 at 4x the size.
