i think that as a replacement for markets library socialism is woefully inadequate, but one thing i will give its advocates is that it is a concrete proposal that you can model and test out in the here and nowIMO one of the worst legacies of the dominance marxism is the tendency to treat a world beyond capitalism as being a singularity, so radically different we cannot speak of it

this is bad for the obvious reason that if change *does* happen you are disorientated and have to build something on the fly – this was a serious problem for both bolsheviks and social democrats who got "power" and then didn't know what socialism would consist of so they defaulted to embracing capitalist practices – but also because the act of overcoming capitalism is going to require economic coordination

even something as a simple as a community center or a protest requires people to solve coordination problems and move resources around. being able to do that more effectively Is Good because for the foreseeable future we're the underdogs and so if we have any chance of winning we have to do more with less
