Found an old DVD-based DVR that also supports VHS playback over HDMI. Now I need to find a way to transmit a DTV signal...If I understand correctly, most of the modern modulators only accept IP transported inputs, which means I'd also have to be able to convert the HDMI output from the DVR. Most of this equipment seems to be ruinously expensive still, unlike conventional NTSC broadcast equipment (I bought my second-hand Blonder Tongue AP for like 40 bucks)Anyone have any ideas?

@prokyonid I assume you've looked into what the ATV / HAM DTV folks are doing?

@publius I have not, actually - my general assumption is that HAMs are going for long-distance broadcasting and therefore are likely using equipment way out of spec for my applications and price range (whole-house broadcasting as inexpensively as possible)Maybe I'm mistaken and should be checking out what they're doing.

@prokyonid Hams LOVE low-power stuff. And half the time they're doing high-power or long-distance stuff, they're using repeaters, with the actual original transmitter being something small, lightweight, and portable.
