Decided to patch a WebSDR into FT-8 and take a listen. My historic problem with operating in this region is hearing, but I could rig a transmit antenna and see if I can transmit outbound ...

@ncommander Plotting ft8 onto a map is always quite interesting how far it travels.I've not managed FT8 transmit either as my rig is ancient and I can't key it from the PC.

@tony I've done it with a wire out a window; I've got a few confirmed contacts on FT-8, but I dunno, I felt it was kinda soulless,Then again, I think just working random CQs might be interesting.

@ncommander Analogue is dead here (just the other day I took my HT onto the top of the hill and in 20 minutes scanning not a single repeater was acive before I gave up) but digital has the challenge of how far you can get on fairly modest hardware.. I have an antenna in the attic and have managed to pick if FT8 from halfway round the world. I do wonder if they could hear me back if I could manage transmit.

@tony listening on bands for days or weeks is something of an art with ham radio. I'm currently listening to some CW.
