@ncommander Plotting ft8 onto a map is always quite interesting how far it travels.I've not managed FT8 transmit either as my rig is ancient and I can't key it from the PC.

@ncommander Analogue is dead here (just the other day I took my HT onto the top of the hill and in 20 minutes scanning not a single repeater was acive before I gave up) but digital has the challenge of how far you can get on fairly modest hardware.. I have an antenna in the attic and have managed to pick if FT8 from halfway round the world. I do wonder if they could hear me back if I could manage transmit.

@LordWoolamaloo @baldur I visited the US many years ago.. got off the plane and there was a cop with a gun. It scared me.. couldn't wait to get out of there. It's a totally different experience to seeing it on TV than being within bullet range of one.I couldn't imagine getting used to that.

@foone An int was supposed to be word size, and duly changed size from 16-32 bits as computers got more powerful.By the time 64 bit words became common so many programs had hardcoded it in data structures they had to invent an int64 to avoid breaking all the bad code.In Delphi they had Cardinal, which was literally defined as the word size with undefined size. They too had to change the definition and invent NativeInt due to bad code..

Android happily using ipv6 only via clay now. Surprised it's so seamless.. not a single app has complained. I expect osx will do the same as it's the same config.Linux is not there yet... There's a patch for networkmanager but it's not merged yet (I could manually hack something using clatd but that seems to be cheating).Microsoft announced support a year ago then.. didn't.

@futurebird I used to have an address like that.11 Foo Court, Foo Road.Foo court is a building on a street with no number.. so websites that assumed all buildings had numbers failed. 11 Foo Court is *not* 11 Foo road, which another bunch of websites got wrong.Some sites just refused point blank to accept the address was real.
