I'm still trying to understand exactly what the "donors" who wanted both Biden and Harris to step aside thought would happen. So, let me paint the best case scenario:Biden and Harris step aside and endorse Andy Beshear or Joe Manchin explaining there will be a brokered convention. Somehow this isn't a huge fight. It really sounds like total chaos. People would howl "it's undemocratic" & be right.I just can't see how they ever thought this could work.

Andy Beshear might be an OK VP. Really pick whoever helps most and I do not claim to know who that would be. If you let me pick I'll force Warren to do it even though she said "no."

@futurebird I’ve been wondering this, too. AOC explained that representatives (behind closed doors) were concerned their donors didn’t want either Biden or Harris on the ticket. So, where does this excitement and momentum leave them, now?

@ramsey Now that I know they were talking about Joe Manchin I totally understand why she was so exasperated and freaked out. I don't know if these weird vaguely Democratic moderates understand that Manchin is famous and NOT for good reasons. He's seen as a legislative troll. I can't think of a better way to make all the volunteers and GOTV crowd just want to stay in bed and cry.

@futurebird Honestly, I think there's an alarming # of folk out there who are nostalgic for the era depicted in that Aaron Sorkin documentary series, The West Wing....and literally don't understand that that isn't how any of this works.

@futurebird @ramsey I do think it’s so interesting that AOC was reporting (and I believe totally truthfully) that the people she was talking with did not have a plan. But the way this went off I feel like it MUST have been planned down to a tee, right? I am really curious about what the behind the scenes has been the last few weeks.
