Since I've had confirmation this is real, I'll reshare it now. It looks like Sonny Piers was removed from the GNOME Foundation board, no one publicly knows why, on one is talking about it, this is a complete mystery https://discourse.gnome.org/t/updates-to-the-gnome-foundation-board-of-directors-roster/22201

@BrodieOnLinux It's just weird. He is also banned from discourse.

@BrodieOnLinux Somehow it feels more like some personal vendetta somewhere, than something he actually did. Kicking someone out so hard is usually reserved for doing really bad shit, and I have not seen a proper explanation anywhere from the board etc.

I should add most people in GNOME have absolutely no idea what is happening in this situation, so please don't go and bother them for answers, they're just as confused as you are.

@BrodieOnLinux For the sake of both parties involved and the GNOME Project in general, I sincerely hope you’ll handle this responsibly as a prominent content creator. There has been very little information disclosed so far, which unfortunately opens the doors for harmful speculation and bad-faith actors.

@bragefuglseth At this stage I don't have any direct plans to do a video on it, there's some speculation I could discuss but nothing concrete. The GNOME Foundation is in a position right now where if what I've been told is true, they're going to piss people off, and if they don't, people will make things up and piss themselves off.

@BrodieOnLinux Thanks, this was reassuring to read. I have very little reliable information about the situation myself, but hopefully we’ll get to know more at some point.

@bragefuglseth You're not the only one, most people in the GNOME project are completely lost with what's happening right now

@BrodieOnLinux Stuff like this is how you show potential big sponsors (especially governments) that you are a sketchy non profit. Secretly removing important people on the project while not telling other members just invites needless suspicion (even if it turns out it was justified later).

@BrodieOnLinux There's been so much drama in FOSS spaces recently that I'm getting paranoid about the potential for an organized campaign to undermine these foundations. At least with CentOS it made some sense since IBM was genuinely doing shady stuff to drive anger and forking, and given Mozilla cutting projects and staff I can understand some bad blood there, but these self-imposed losses with the Nix and GNOME Foundations seem out of the blue.
