So I think today is the last (or almost?) day of the #oldcomputerchallenge and, very unfortunately, I missed it due to a very busy week. But, as the challenge's own description says, it doesn't matter if you miss the right window, you can try it all year long.So this is what I'll be trying to do: over this weekend and the next one, I'll dust off my thick Celeron single-core 2010 laptop and take it for a ride with trusty #AlpineLinux for this challenge. Let's see how interesting it gets.

Without writing a report on it, a little update on my #OldComputerChallenge: I've limited the laptop to 700MB RAM and yet I think I overestimated the amount: about 24 processes running (lots of graphical applications, too) and Alpine is consuming just under 200MB of RAM, which includes a browser (dillo).I might spoil the party later and open firefox, but so far, it's so controlled. I have chat apps, IRC, email and all functionality I want, even watched youtube videos with MPV.

This year, however, I'll try to make it interesting by adding a few different goals and rules. Anyone can run a console-only session with tmux and run the world there in 150MB or less (gotta love Linux <3), so let's stir things up a little with these rules:-Maximize Graphical applications instead of CLI as much as possible-Run as many applications as possible in parallel to really stress test it-Try to reproduce as much of my daily workflow as possible, perhaps raising the limit to 700MB RAM
