The Linux smugness over CrowdStrike is cute but it could just as easily have been Falcon Sensor for Linux instead of the Windows version. There’s nothing explicitly Windowsy about CrowdStrike.

They shipped a shitty driver that BSODs Windows. It could’ve been a kernel module that cause a panic.

@voltagex ok so CrowdStrike wouldn’t do this *anymore*, neat. I’m surprised it uses the interface. It runs roughshod over every other OS norm while screaming “SECOORITY!”

@geordie @voltagex they've apparently made some Linux systems unbootable in the past with the older kernel module (on supported distro/kernel combinations). So it seems more like a general testing issue on their end.

@geordie it's worse. The kernel driver fetches new configuration files, and parses it *in the driver* so the corrupted update makes the driver cough up a lung and die.
