I'm not even a goddamned radical ... so why do I always feel like one as of late?

@futurebird Because McMedia is trying to act like Donald bin Laden's coup 3 and a half years ago never happened.

@futurebird Back when Dubya was in office, Teresa Nielsen Hayden wrote “I deeply resent the way this administration makes me feel like a nutbar conspiracy theorist.”‘Tis still relatable.

@angelastella I was thinking the other day about how not especially racist Bush was compared to Republicans now. I mean... he was still kinda racist, but in that more polite way.

@futurebird This Project 2025 rhetoric paints most normal Americans as radicals. It's extremist language calls anyone not on board with the agenda radical.

@futurebird Compromise politics has pushed even the center so far to the right that to the rest of the world America is a country of far-right extremists. Anyone calling for something resembling a stable, working setup that is actually sustainable and non-destructive comes off as a far-left extremist by default.

Minority rule can’t happen unless they have their big rally and then bulldoze successfully, but they are so transparent and so reliant on bulldozing it is seen for what it is. It’s fine. Ish. Wait a month. There are good candidates. Whitmer fights where Clinton faded. Biden's fighting days are behind him, yet the DNC doesn’t seem as clueless as they were in 2000, 2004, 2010, etc.I remain cautiously optimistic. People really detest the nutjobs. You are not alone.@futurebird

@futurebird Half of people around me think I'm a centrist hack and the other half think I'm a leftist radical. I seriously think a huge part of this propaganda is framing it so you seem like a radical conspiracy nut if you point out the obvious."You sound like those people"

@futurebird Idk, you always seem to want to address things at their root source to my eyes. I used to think this was a desirable trait but I keep seeing it used as a slur. Unless you mean markedly different from the norm or advocating fundamental or revolutionary changes in current practices, conditions, or institutions, in which case you still have come across as meeting both of those to me and I still don't understand what's so wrong with identifying with that term. Like, I get how it is used and the colloquial definition used in the US, but that doesn't mean radicals who meet the actual definition have to let non-radicals define them. Are you a revolutionary engaged in direct action? No. Radical though? I personally think so. Especially as the status quo shifts to become something you can't put up with any longer.Would you have been a radical 10 years ago or even just 5, probably not. But not because you've changed, it's because the government has.
