       @sjuvonen There is a really fun LitRPG called "Chrysalis" that's just a fun romp. Clearly written by an antkeeper. I have not yet found serious sci-fi ants that I really like who are main characters. Though there are a few books and have side characters that are ants.

       @futurebird @sjuvonen I did listen to that one! RIght now I'm listening to "Heretical Fishing" Book one. Unusual for a LitRPG in that its remarkably peaceful and the hero is a truly nice guy. Nice enough to be an animal tamer, and he's REALLY into fishing, knows everything about it. It's got political skulduggery, but so far no real violence except some poisonings.

       @futurebird @sjuvonen They are not ants exactly, but I highly recommend "Semiosis" by Sue Burke for featuring characters that are ant -adjacent. The sequel even more so.

       @sjuvonen If you can wait two years you can read the book I'm working on about the (victorian vaguely steampunk) planet of the ant people and the researcher who goes there on "exchange"

       @sjuvonen @futurebird Galactic Corps by Ian Douglas features an ant-adjacent species called the Xul. They are not a Hive mentality, they are a Complex Adaptive System.https://isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?994138https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_adaptive_system

       @sjuvonen @futurebird Well, I’m a wee tad old-ish, so I remember a cult-classic SciFi movie involving giant ants, “Them!”https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0047573/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_4_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_them
