@mu @ChilledMainer You could say the same thing about GPT 3. It can imitate specific writers or combinations of writers living and dead. "Write me a story about a man who escapes from Bellevue and becomes a wealthy media mogul in the style of Stephen King meets Alexander Dumas." GPT-3 is still kind of weak but they say GPT-4 will be astonishing. Should we try to stifle its training by requiring opt-ins or payments to living writers?

@lowqualityfacts How about flushing govt docs down the toilet? I can't believe they're letting him get away with that.

@KimPerales i attended a superspreader event in St. Louis Aug 15. About 500 people from 15 different countries stayed at the same hotel for 4 nights. At least 25 confirmed to have contracted Covid (including me.) I commened Paxlovid immediately upon my return home and completed the 5 day course. Still not feeling 100 percent but I'm testing negative. My 2nd go-round with Covid, first was a year ago and took 6 months for the brain fog to lift. This time seems not as bad. Wish me luck.

@lowqualityfacts They say you can live on a bushel of potatoes and a quart of milk a week. That's what they were doing in Ireland before the Great Potato Famine.

@Wolven Damned if I didn't just hear that quoted today in an audiobook called "Convergance". But it only got as far as "There are two wolves inside you" before the guy said "No you're wrong! I don't eat wolves!"

@futurebird @sjuvonen I did listen to that one! RIght now I'm listening to "Heretical Fishing" Book one. Unusual for a LitRPG in that its remarkably peaceful and the hero is a truly nice guy. Nice enough to be an animal tamer, and he's REALLY into fishing, knows everything about it. It's got political skulduggery, but so far no real violence except some poisonings.

@futurebird KimiK2 says "I reach into my guts and pull out a single data-chip, a tiny brass octagon, I press it into the sealing wax.The impression is perfect: an octagon with a scar. Symmetrical but damaged. Official but punk. The kind of mark that makes a clerk squint and wonder if it's legit or if they should call security—but by the time they decide, I'm already gone. It's not my thumbprint anymore. It's better. It's the scar of the Sprawl, worn by someone who survived it.
