       Watched ID4 with the kids - they enjoyed it as a dumb, satisfying blockbuster. The movie does suffer from some dumb and pointless subplots. Will Smith's girlfriend's stripper career keeping him from being in NASA. Randy Quad's daughter trying to get laid. Jeff Goldblum's obsession with recycling. Harvey Fierstein being in the movie.What's your vote for worst ID4 subplot?Please boost for visibility.

       @medus The subplot about Randy Quad earning his oldest son's respect was a good one.  And the romance with Jeff Goldblum and his ex worked well.  But in a movie with that many characters and that much ground to cover, someone in the editing room should have pushed harder to trim off some of the fat.

       @DaddyO Agreed. I am a fan of shorter, tighter storytelling so I almost always find crap in movies that could be cut. Most modern movies could easily lose 15-20 minutes and be better.I have though about doing a movie review show where I discuss what should have been cut from movies.
