@lauren I readily admit, for every Tesla I see on the road I wonder if the driver is a Musk fan and assume it's at least likely.If I'd had a Tesla before Musk became Musk, I would 100% have returned it when his true self became evident. I cannot and will not support (or be thought to support) that kind of abhorrence. If that means going through the hassle of selling (back) "his" car, so be it.Plenty of other EVs out there to choose among, including sexy ones, with equivalent or better range.

@WhyNotZoidberg @lauren @reay are you kidding? Most TDI users *did* buy them because they were environmentally friendly -- they got incredible fuel mileage out of them. A TDI could get you near 50mpg and the gasoline equivalent was like 26mpg

@feld @lauren I've never quite been able to get myself to the point of not caring what others think. Not really, really.Not sure if it's sheer insecurity or a deep impostor syndrome issue (being a writer, that's of course ingrained in me). Maybe it's a me judging so expecting to be judged thing? But if my own take is that a person (or company) is an asshole, I simply won't want to support them. And thinking -- knowing -- that others feel the same, would prefer to not be thought to.

Buying a Tesla will only be seen by him and likely by the Board purely as people buying the product and attributing it to leadership. So that keeps him in place.Avoiding support = declining sales = better chance of Musk getting ousted. If there’s a better way the public can affect that change, I’m all ears.
