So Toys R Us is running an AI generated video: https://www.toysrus.com/pages/studiosIt looks... bad? But I can't tell if that's just because I'm interested in AI so I can see all the cheats and problems. Presumably most people don't even realize it's AI?

@Infrapink Yeah, there's something about current AI video, even the best stuff, where it's as if you consciously understand it as looking right, but there's something eerie or sinister. Like you walked into a room and something about it feels like a trap. Or like you're having a nightmare but the bad stuff hasn't shown up yet.

@ZachWeinersmith This is better than a lot of AI videos I see since it seems like actual humans came in and cleaned up/added effects afterward. Still feels wrong but like you I am way deeper into what AI can do than most people.

@ZachWeinersmith "The son of a [bizarre] bike shop owner"… There are a lot of deformed bicycles with parts in wrong places in that first part. Though if you're not looking for it you may miss that, much like the study where people miss the person in a gorilla suit in the basketball game. Also has the Sora issue where every shot is slow-mo. The latter half is ok since it's so fantastical.

@ZachWeinersmith @Infrapink @nyrath Static images can look realistic, especially not overly detailed ones... AI video always looks surreal. And I'm not convinced it'll stop being surreal.The best thing I saw it compared is a dream. At least in my dreams there's the same oddly melty, offkilter quality to everything that feels sluggish and dissociated and detached and... it's a vibe that's hard to describe.

@ZachWeinersmith it does kind of look like a bunch of composted together photos, which I guess it ultimately is. Like, everything looks like it’s on its own layer and not really anchored to anything which makes the physics (camera panning, character moving) look off.

@ZachWeinersmith The AI didn't understand what bikes look like, and the people doing the post-processing didn't either. Curly and bent spokes, weird tubes, frames that just stop part way....
