I'm currently trying to source a small mirror to do an experiment on "self recognition" on my carpenter ants. I also need an opaque smooth surface that isn't reflective as a control. All of the mirrors I own are much too large. But, I think I have something that might work in the lab at school. (I have not forgotten about this crazy paper in the very questionable 'Journal')https://www.journalofscience.net/showpdf/MjY4a2FsYWkxNDc4NTIzNjk=

@futurebird A rear view helmet mirror from a bike shop? They’re fairly cheap, and come with their own mounting hardware. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C17M26/For a control, the inside of a soda can might work, just careful with the edge.

@jrconlin I think we have a bunch of little mirrors in the box with the lasers at school. I'll raid that first.

@futurebird I have some "first surface" mirror scraps from kaleidoscope making. At ant scale the glass of a normal mirror is probably significant.
