       PSA: #YouTube has begun blocking import on many hosts, including the one we use at TILvids. This means that auto-sync for channels will no longer work, which puts incredible pressure/effort on creators like @thelinuxEXP trying to make content available in multiple locations. Because of this, expect there to be some disruptions in content availability.This is why it's so important to support non #Google software and services, because they are swiftly becoming a bad actor in the world of #tech

       @tilvids Honestly, at this point, I think creators ought to give serious thought to migrating.For me YouTube views are falling off and PeerTube views are growing. I've been thinking about doing full videos for PeerTube and preview shorts for YouTube.

       @ChrisWere This is literally what it's going to take. People, both creators and viewers, deciding consciously not to use YouTube. I think it's going to have to be pushed from both ends, but if more viewers would reach out to the creators and encourage them to join or begin a PeerTube instance, that would be a good start.

       @tilvids Yeah, the big step isn't so much joining PeerTube, but leaving YouTube. I know YouTube punishes channels who take viewers off the site/app, but at this stage I don't mind.YouTube's not really for channels like mine any more, it's for John Oliver segments, Dude Perfect, and Mr Beast, it's changed.

       @ChrisWere 💯 agree that YouTube has changed. I don't know how much money smaller creators are making on YouTube, but I can't imagine it's enough to actually support themselves. So knowing that, it's mostly about audience. And if these creators would just band together and either join an instance or start their own, they could then pull sponsorship at an instance-level that they could all share. That was always my goal for TILvids, along with incorporating as a non-profit.

       @tilvids I turned off ads a few years ago, I'm only making videos for fun these days, and my experience as a creator is much more positive in the Fedi. I don't even read YouTube comments anymore, I've turned them off on YouTube.

       @tilvids There's only going to be more ads coming down the pipeline, and I don't want people having to sit through that.It's nice to have a place where people are posting for fun, not for profit.
