@privateger You don't need to finish the project.You only have to first think about what you would need to start doing that? Do you need a pencil? Charge your iPad? What is the smallest first step you can think of?OK just do that. If it's too much make it smaller, make it laughably small. "I need to stand up""I need to turn off the video""I need to wash my face"Alternately. Maybe the project is a bad idea. Maybe it should not be done and what is really needed is to END the project.

@futurebird @privateger I can vouch for these techniques. 🫡Although, I think my favorite way to finish a project is to lose my task list and forget there was a project, then be reminded of it several weeks later when the client writes to say the project is cancelled and no longer needed. I’ve been trying to use this method more, recently, but it doesn’t always work.

@futurebird @privateger I’ve given a Lighting Talk about this very topic 15 years ago. At the time I was anxious to finish several video game projects, but I couldn’t seem to get past the stage where my proof-of-concept game engine was running.I ended up adjusting my expectations, I didn’t actually want to run a video game project from start to finish, I just enjoyed the problem-solving part of designing a game engine. And it was fine if I left it at that, but of course that’s not what I was saying to other people at the time.
