When it gets this warm, walking before 6 AM or walking after 9 PM are the only times I can walk two double-coated ("Down plus Guard Hairs") Shelties. Our older Sheltie runs a serious heat exhaustion or heart stroke risk, and our younger Sheltie lets us know that she has no desire to go for a long walk when it's this hot and humid. Not good weather for Shelties or Collies when it gets this hot.

@tayledras my old (12 years) girl is still holding up alright. 88F here with a 74F dewpoint, and we still managed a mile and a half. She's an AmStaff with short hair though, and she gets a mid-point dip in a running stream.

@prettygood Our oldest Sheltie (Kiyomi) was always heat intolerant.Toshiro was much more tolerant, but less so as he got older. Now 10yo, he plays outside but quickly stops and sits by the door once it's over 84'F outside.Sachiko tries to push herself, but starts panting. Of our three Shelties, she certainly has the heaviest and thickest coat.
