@gwynnion yeah, my Twitter experience was reasonably pleasant because I curated the people I was seeing and didn't engage with a lot of random accounts (and deleted it as soon as Elon was confirmed to become the owner)

@gwynnion if you're going to spend a considerable amount of time on a website, why would you torture yourself by reading shit opinions from random mouth breathers instead of just blocking them? Never understood the attitude that you have to let people take up that much of your mental energy.

@beans_please I treat Mastodon the same way because it's not hard to weed out trolls and bad faith arguers. I don't have to listen to anyone I don't want to.

@gwynnion yeah it's one of those situations where 1% of the noisiest accounts cause most of the problem, and they're not that hard to pick out. Almost everybody else is just kind of doing their own thing

@beans_please @gwynnion "it's not like anyone's mind was every actually changed".I love the community here; people discuss stuff, sometimes robustly, but aren't just chanting the party line.There're definitely topics and regions lacking (Africa), but I've learn't way more interesting stuff.Opinion changed: Astrophysics and insects - ants in particular.I find myself walking down the road trying not to step on the little buggers! (h/t @alexwild @futurebird )
