We use a plugin on https://hemlockbazaar.com to list our products in the google product search thing. I hate it, but it does result in a few extra sales a month and it's not much effort for us to manage, so I deal. Today I noticed that they'd taken issue with 53 of our products (out of many thousand) so I popped over to figure out what was up and... Well, I'm at a loss. Google has flagged 53 of our products as Sexual, let me show you some of the flagged products.

First up, google decided that this collection of a comic strip from the 1910s is adult content. https://www.hemlockbazaar.com/product/krazy-kat-collection-selected-sunday-strips-1918-1919-herriman-george/Now, Krazy Kat is absolutely about a queer love triangle between a non-binary cat, a mouse, and a dog but ... It was also syndicated in newspapers across the country for nearly 50 years, and is one of the most wholesome, beloved comics of all time. What the hell google?

Another flagged product is this record. https://www.hemlockbazaar.com/product/crumb-locket-crumb/I haven't heard this record, I can't guarantee that there's no sexual content on it. But ... Well, the album cover is perfectly normal, and I don't see anything worrying in the description or track titles. So...?

Now, some of these are much easier to understand. Google objected to a large number of books published by Armchair Fiction. Here's an example.https://www.hemlockbazaar.com/product/time-trap-the-cosmic-destroyer-blade-alexander/These books mostly feature covers taken from pulps from the 40s. Nearly all of those covers are... suggestive, at least. But they aren't actually lewd, and were carried on newsstands around the country, and are on display in bookstores around the globe.

I won't share them all, but I am going to share a few more. This one is also flagged for adult content. https://www.hemlockbazaar.com/product/cocaine-blues-greenwood-kerry/Now, I haven't read the novel, but I've seen the television adaptation (which I enjoyed!) and if the novel is anything like there, then there's probably at least a little sexual content. But ... we have a lot of romance novels, and google hasn't complained about the majority of them, just this comparatively chaste one. Perhaps it is the word Cocaine that is at issue?
