       The opening line of the military sci-fi space navy book i just started reading is: “Wearing perfectly pressed trousers and shiny boots, Captain Maddox of Star Watch Intelligence flexed his bare chest.”Awww yeah, this is gonna be a good one, I can tell.

       It’s rare that I give up on a bad book, but I think I will bail on this one. Every character in it, with one exception, speaks in a weird, stilted yet pompous manner. None of them sound like an actual person. They all monologue like Sephiroth, even in casual conversation. The exception is the “Irish” character (whose personality is “I’m Irish!”) He talks like a cartoon leprechaun.Yeah, I think I’m out.
