In 2017, I was able to travel to see the total eclipse (Oregon isn't too far, it was summer and camping is cheap), and I'm a little disappointed that isn't a possibility this time. But I'm going to go get myself a pair of eclipse glasses so I can have a peek at the sun next Monday even though it's only expected to be 10% here. The subtle change in the light is still interesting.

Total eclipses get called a once in a lifetime experience. The suddenness of darkfall and how quickly the temperature dropped and how nearby birds stopped singing has stayed with me as a very deep, singular feeling.
