It is interesting to visualize the audible and inaudible range of @fesix CNC milling machine and pick out the individual components such as stepper motors, spindle or the frequency inverter. 192kHz sampling rate, multiple microphones and 32 bit float gives u a lot of insights.

@pandora @fesix Looks like AM while ramping up and down, but I can’t figure out what’s going on in the middle of picture 3. The bit and part together have the same resonant frequency as the bit alone?.?.?.

@joe @fesix I am not sure what exactly you mean but in this picture you can see two different stepper motors going two different directions (those crossed lines). The other straight line is the spindle motor (that remains straight because it runs with constant rpm)

@pandora @fesix I see, I see. Why do the motors ramp up and down at constant rate at the beginning and end, but do some kind of curvy thing in the middle of #3? I was guessing the curve was because of friction. (I’ve never played with a CNC thing before so I don’t know what I’m talking about)
