I keep getting podcast auto ads for gun stuff. Specifically, a silencer company, and a concealed carry organization. The latter calls gun owners "protectors", which feels very slimy. My understanding is that the statistics don't show this to be at all true. Plus, ad companies, I'm blind. I'm not getting a silencer, nor am I ever getting a concealed carry license. But hey, this is America. Sadly, I should expect this.

I don't mind guns in certain contexts. I've shot plenty of them, from .22 to 7.62 to shotguns. I do think America needs far better and more strict gun regulation, and I have mixed feelings on hunting for sport. But if you like target shooting, or antique firearms, I have no problem with that. It's the ads that suggest you can be a hero and a protector if you carry a gun everywhere that I don't like.
