the anti-fluoride people are back... I mean, if you like anti-vax stuff why not? It's the same swindle. "precious bodily fluids" and all that. I hate the taste of mint so I'm always looking for toothpaste that tastes better... I was horrified to discover that if you go of the beaten path with toothpaste there are 100s of brands with "no fluoride" which only a tiny number of people really need... Be careful if you use a "crunchy" brand ... fluoride is amazing.

By the way if you hate mint (or any menthol like taste) toothpaste I found a few brands that HAVE fluoride but don't have a minty taste they are:BURSTkids "bubblegum" "mareshmallow" and strawberry. Hismile "strawberry" and "grape"Tom's Children's Strawberry WITH FLUORIDE (they make one without be careful)I'm cavity prone, have a sweet-tooth and the pallet of a nine year old. If you know of others let me know. The BURSkids is the best, it's made brushing enjoyable.

@futurebird I have a cinnamon flavored one I use. They are no longer stocked in our regular grocery stores but they are available online. I much prefer it to mint flavors.

@jinglepostman The BURSTkids mareshmallow is nice and mild and I love it enough to put up with it twice a day because my dentist said I need to brush basically all the damn time.

@futurebird I stopped using a tooth powder that I otherwise quite liked when I found out it didn't contain fluoride. It's often missing in "organic" brands because apparently that target demographic believes fluoride is bad. Another thing to look out for, btw, because you mention kids' toothpaste, is how abrasive a toothpaste is. Many common brands are very abrasive which you don't need unless you smoke and want white teeth.

@futurebird our kiddos use Crest Kids Sparkle Fun (fluoride) that has a bubble gum like flavor, and then a Strawberry flavored one (youngest doesn't like bubble gum apparently 🤷♂️).

@futurebird I lived in a small village in upstate NY that didn't treat the water with fluoride. I didn't know about the water for years but I also started using the natural toothpastes. My teeth and gums were a mess by the time I moved back to civilization and I've been paying for it for years ever since.

@futurebird We use one called Zendium ("red fruit"), although only their one for small kids doesn't have mint (not sure whether it also has less flouride or the 0-5 labeling is just because of the flavor 🤷)
