@LevelUp those kits are a fun way to get into it! Got mine from eBay, there's a few which ship directly from China, I think.

@THOMSOTRON there's some soldering equipment in the workshop but I worry about damaging it haha so I could bring my own.The space is great since I don't have any safe space at home with my parents letting the dogs freely barge into my room no matter how many times I ask them to ask me first because I have needles, shears, hot things and all sorts out which are not safe for puppies. :oh_no_blob:

@LevelUp you can also learn a lot from watching others do some soldering. And of course there might be people there who can teach you. I know, social anxiety is a thing, don't pressure yourself. +Everyone started from 0 at some point.

@THOMSOTRON Oh definitely, you've always gotta start from somewhere. :DThis is a picture of part of the electronics area that I can rumage around and see what's there, I'll just ask whoever's in the electronic group about the quick and dirty. Tbh from what I've noticed there are all sorts of different people, like when I first arrived there was a guy leaving and I asked which was the correct button for the buzzer and he crumpled up like a piece of paper saying he didn't know and it was his second time there. Whereas there are people there who are pretty comfortable with talking with whoever's there. The lady giving the tour seemed a bit anxious and overwhelmed because she said it was the biggest group of people she had ever seen but when she's in her element she seems okay from what I can tell. So yeah, we're probably all socially anxious nerds in some way or another haha but it's been nice from what I've seen. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't touch other people's stuff or tamper and as long as I don't break anything as well. ❤️ 😅

@THOMSOTRON it's only an area of many different areas too. For what it is, they've done well to set it up and keep it running. I think I could learn a lot from spending some time there, eventually I'll only be limited by time, skill and imagination. 😅I'm hoping to get training in the sewing machines and eventually the laser cutter and CNC machines, then I think I'll be okay for a while but there's always more to get into in wood working, metal work, welding, etc. I always wanted to get into electronic repairs though and fix up sown spares ans repairs...I might be able to do that now!
