@john Yeah, I had to disable the tap function for that reason. But they do look like potentially useful interactions. Of course, what I’d really like is better palm detection in Procreate…

@john My Intuos stylus is very big and comfortable. The Apple pencil is thin, like a real pencil. Was Wacom wrong? Is Apple wrong but when Apple says 'jump' people jump and now artists like it? Do newer Wacoms come with a thin stylus now because everyone copies Apple?So many questions

@RaethDragon They’re kinda stuck now, design-wise. It can’t be any thicker, because it would be too thick compared with the iPad. You can’t add grips because then you couldn’t pair and charge it.That said, the drawing experience is better on an iPad than a Wacom. So we’re all stuck with it.

Instead of making the already-too-thin iPad Pro thinner they should have added more battery capacity. People rave about the battery life of iPads , but if you use processor intensive applications they don’t last all day. Far from it. From the very beginning I used my iPad Pro plugged in, because it didn’t last a days painting.#Apple #iPad #GetOffMyLawn #OldManShoutsAtClouds

@Akki well, I recently bought my mother painting supplies, and it came to ¼ the cost of my iPad. No canvases just paint and brushes. I’ve had my iPad for 5 years and done literally hundreds of paintings on it. I would have spent thousands on paint and canvases.

@Akki paint, mostly. Buy if I do the maths, the cost of each painting I have done on this iPad would have to come out to less than £4 in materials to be the same. I don’t know where you’re getting your materials, but I don’t think I could ever get it done that cheaply!And I’m probably going to end up doing a hundred more paintings on this thing AND it’s not the only thing I use it for.

@john or they could have made it as thick as the camer bump (and filled it with battery). So, you know, it can lay flat.The camera bump is the dumbest design decision that everyone seems to want.

@john @RaethDragon i can’t work with the very thin Apple pencil. It’s too thin and hurts my hand. And now I’m scared to look at the new wacom pens.. because those are perfect.

@PeterFalkingham @miekeroth I can make the case for the camera bump:You don't actually want your iPad to lay flat, because it will be hard to pick up, especially if it's on a smooth surface where it can get suction. You can mitigate this with bevelled edges, but that requires bigger bezels. Siting at an angle also prevents the lens from pressing closely on the surface (my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 lenses were scratched to bits because of that).

@john @PeterFalkingham wow. I always had a case, so didn’t encounter that. The problem with my current ipad is that it is basically a laptop with the keyboard cover. It’s heavy enough. I’m in doubt about Nomad sculpt (Zbrush is also coming to ipad), but then I have buy a pencil and then I need something to thicken it up because what I wrote somewhere earlier: the pencil is too thin and hurts my hand.
