This video agrees so strongly with things I believed already (see one of my long-pinned posts, for instance) that I was hesitant to post it, fearing a confirmation bias reflex. I sat on it and watched it a few more times and …well, I still think it's really right on. You should watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReXaS4QausQ #BikeTooter #BikeLanes #ClimateChange

The hits on this topic just keep on coming, and results that would contradict its conclusions are nearly impossible to find. Here's a small selection that all lead to the same conclusions.https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/23800127.2024.2332006 https://momentummag.com/bicycle-use-soars-following-installation-of-separated-bike-lanes-according-to-cambridge-study/ https://theconversation.com/cycling-is-ten-times-more-important-than-electric-cars-for-reaching-net-zero-cities-157163https://jalopnik.com/bike-lanes-are-good-for-business-actually-and-everyon-1851318118https://www.forbes.com/sites/carltonreid/2024/04/06/french-revolution-cyclists-now-outnumber-motorists-in-paris/?sh=6684e70d3640

Instead, we're investing hundreds of times more in the idea that nothing has to change and some future breakthrough will magically clean up after the incredible mess we've made. https://www.energy.gov/articles/biden-harris-administration-announces-12-billion-nations-first-direct-air-capture

Hell, you don't have to bike, or want to bike, or care about biking at all, and you might *still* want the government to bet way more money on a long-proven, incredibly cheap and cost-effective method to fight climate change (and make streets safer for everyone!), rather than not doing that. Why not!? Maybe it'll work! Let's give it a go and see. But, no. We are not even trying, even seeing the results other countries are getting today. And that is so incredibly stupid.
