@polarisera True. I think the first states to have vaccine mandates were red states. Eventually, it flipped and became more of a blue thing. I think the parties take turns sucking so that all states can be ruined over time.

@Cousin_Isobel The south had more tropical diseases, esp from the ports. Periodic epidemics swept through and mass panics occurred. But trying to lock down a mosquito-borne diseases like Yellow Fever is counterproductive, it only lets the squitos have at it. But they didn't know back then.

@Cousin_Isobel Also, they pretty much disproved the superstitious notion you can rub diseased animal tissue into an open would and create a magic force field. There is no vaccine for most tropical diseases, but they tried, oh, they tried. And they experimented on prisoners, orphans and service men over and over again.
