@Mummabear I never owned this particular one, but I had a small battery-powered chainsaw once. It sucked ass! Frankly, calling it a chainsaw is an insult to every actual chainsaw. Even the 60 bucks Chinese ones with a puny engines that only last like two years are better. Seriously.

@Mummabear I own chainsaws not this one particularly. Small branches and shrubs it should do the job. Chain sharpness is the key to optimum chainsaw performance.

@Cbrooklyn112 @Mummabear meh. If you need something cheap for occasional pruning, this is what you want (or similar): https://www.ebay.it/itm/235313353512You tune it, you don't feed it too cheap oil and you've got something. That battery stuff suck!

@ThatCrazyDude @Mummabear I have the standard Ryobi chainsaw and it's pretty great! It's not meant to cut down large trees, but we had a large tree fall during a storm and it worked great cutting everything that was smaller than the bar. And it's quiet so if you do want to cut down some small trees, without the ire of nosey neighbors, it does the trick.

@Peaceandprosperity @Mummabear but jukes aside, I have no doubt that a saw (even a small one) from a a reputable manufacturer does the job it's intended to do. The thing is that it's a damn chainsaw. You prolly don't want to baby it. You'll climb up a tree with it, you'll be bumping it into things and all. And we all know how lithium-ion batteries handle manhandling. Scary shit from where I'm sitting

@ThatCrazyDude @Mummabear This. The price-point on that Ryobi is crazy fly-by-night Chinese jobbies which can operate one-handed.

@Mummabear Nein! I have a oair if sawzall recioricatung saws, and a 20" Stihl gas chainsaw. I find the combination works quite well for my needs. the ability to change out blades on the Sawzall makes it a multipurpose tool.

@Mummabear I have a Ryobi electric saw, the standard version and 3 gas powered saws, I use them a lot. I've been heating my house with wood from my property for 37 years. I highly recommend the standard version. It's great for quick work. I used it yesterday to cut through a 12 in thick Manzanita stump , very hard wood.

@Mummabear just keep in mind that if you'll get one of those cheapo chainsaws you'll have to tune it if you want it to last more than one season, because them Chinamen never do that. It's pretty easy to do and there's plenty videos on YouTubez on how to do that, but still.

@Mummabear oh and if you need something for more precise work, you might want to look work a saw with "carving bar" like the one on the pic (although this one isn't cheap), or buy a pointy bar afterwards. They generally don't last very long, but if you need it for surgical stuff.... ;)

@Mummabear Not a fan of Ryobi -- or battery tools in general -- but the Stihl (battery-powered) version (small chainsaw for doing limbs & _small_ trees) is up to their usual superior standards.

@Mummabear I had an electric chainsaw once. Not battery (that sounds kind of weak). The saw in pic looks handy, tho.I cut wood with it, for taking down bigger trees I had a friend that was a professional. The electric one was far more easy to handle than a gas one. Still have to sharpen the chain tho 😀 Furthermore, carpenters sometimes uses electric ones for indoor job.One more thing, if cutting a branch one should make a smaller cut on the underside of the branch first. To avoid splicing.
