@SirBemrose but there is a decision to embrace the direction of your ancestors and practice the same lifestyle or reject and go your own way. I think that is what they are really talking about WRT "pride in your heritage".

@SirRichard @SirBemrose By definition, your heritage is that which has been passed down to you. You didn't invent yourself, and your heritage didn't die the day you were born. On the contrary.You can absolutely be praised or blamed for the result of your heritage, because the current result of that heritage is you.
