If you really feel like you need to lose fat here is a couple facts.* Carbs are not your enemy early the day.* Eating in the evenings is probably working against you in general.Maybe try having a bigger lunch and then a small salad or bowl of fruit instead of dinner? You will likely put yourself into a calorie deficit and sleep better as a bonus since the body doesn't deal well with trying to digest and sleep at the same time.

@Rasp here's my own experience and what I've learned on the matter:(1/2) Any new diet change that makes you be repeatedly uncomfortable or hungry is just a loosing battle and calorie counting is pointless because no label is precise and because the body does not care about the math, generally hates suddenly giving up on fat and fat storage has more to do with hormones and metabolism, and on that note...

@Rasp The dinner sounds expensive, skipping is probably cheaper. :p(Alas it doesn't work that way, but the expense point still stands I think.)

@Rasp Is “poop less often” also a valid recommendation?I’m always hungriest when my bowels are emptiest.

@Rasp Fresh vegetables and especially fruits tend to be fairly expensive here.Well, basically anything that isn't a root vegetable is either imported or greenhouse stuff in winter, which doesn't help.

@Rasp gotcha, I just felt like saying 'cause, well, I personally would not have enough with lunch and then a small bowl of veggies for dinner, and I can't imagine being the only one lol (I eat a considerably volume of food daily)I just don't want people to feel like they should be hungry to lose fat, or stress over calorie counting, so many people with honest effort end up hitting a wall that way and then feel like there's something wrong with them, you know?

@Rasp I think the way to go generally is to first worry about the quality of food, then people can work out on their own the when and how much for them individually

@Lamb the issue is exercise only increases your calorie burn slightly. most of the calories you eat are going toward just keep you alive. it might burn off like half a soda cans worth of extra calories. If you actually lose fat you need to be in a deficit and preferably one like you said that doesn't leave you hungry.

@Lamb A walk of 1.5 miles a day would increase my required calories by less than 10%

@Rasp this is true, you burn very few calories as you do the exercise, exercise is not really about burning calories directly, it's about increasing your metabolism by building muscle mass, bigger muscles are like a passive caloric expense
