Later today, I'll try to move this instance to a Raspberry PI Zero W - powered by NetBSD 10.0 RC2.I wonder how it will perform.#NetBSD #snac2 #RaspberryPI

@stesnac how did it go? It’s always good to see people experimenting with low powered devices. Is NetBSD the best fit for older Raspberry Pi?

@mario@hachyderm.io I had to rush out so I haven't switched, yet. First rsync has finished in some minutes, but I'll switch in the evening. I'll keep you updated.I think that NetBSD can be a good choice as FreeBSD will lose support for armv6. As for Linux, I tried with Alpine (which I've used in the past with that PI) but didn't boot. Maybe I'll have a look at Alpine and try it as well.

Far too slow. I had to immediately revert to the "old" jail. It wasn't crashing, but the cpu load was 100% and responding with http error 499. It's been a nice experiment, maybe I'll try with Alpine Linux or different, a bit better (armv7) hardware. I think it can be working.CC: @mario@hachyderm.io

@stesnac sad but not too surprising…. that CPU is really underpowered for today’s standards. For comparison, GoToSocial docs say a Raspberry Pi Zero W is too slow while it works on a RPI Zero W 2 https://docs.gotosocial.org/getting_started/ I wouldn’t expect Alpine to solve the issue but it could be worth a try, “for science” :)

@mario @stesnac In fact, it didn't solve 🙂 I've also tried with a Banana PRO (armv7), still too slow. I'm testing with some options that the dev suggested. Let's see...
