@yogthos 10 years is OK, it's not so long in the grand scheme of things. Not that after 10 years we'll be in paradise, but that's more or less my gut feeling time frame to have reached the low point. Yes, Europe is very hard to predict. Especially the feeling of the current late teens or those in their early 20s. A political overhaul could trigger good things there surprisingly fast. If they can get rid #vonderleyen asap, that will give hope. I think some scandal might remove her quite soon.

@kino @yogthos EU is totally boken, and that worst since Lisbon treaty. "free and fair competition" (aka "deregulated finance") is the top keeped thing in laws. Commission has all rights, choose everything and parliament, can only give some advice. Commission is not representative of citizen as non elected by them (representative system) , nor randomly choose on overall population (full democracy). An union that would protect citizen (and non-citizen leaving here, that should at least treated as humans) first would be far better.

@yogthos I don't really have much concern for the opinions or "views" of people living in unsustainable extractive abusive slave-making societies. What is more important is that the more civilised societies maintain a level head, which I think will probably happen, as they know what they are doing, they have a plan, and last but not least they have the upper hand.

@popolon @yogthos Indeed, the commision is a problem, but IIUC, not untouchable, and yet, for example #diem25 has for some years put forward a reasonable proposal to create a constitution for #EU, by citizens, for citizens. So far it has not gained much traction. While it might be valid to level some criticism at the "leadership", they did do a lot to avoid being centralised. It will take more time to "fix", as the EU citizen is right now, severely #propagandized.

@kino @yogthosDon't know what is IIUC, when I search on searchs engine, I have "International Islamic University Chittagong" ^^.In all countries where a referendum against European constitution project was proposed (as highly for finance advantages, instead of citizens), citizens voted against by majority, politicians still forced it with Lisbonne.Sure EU and the people advantaged by its rules, is a full propaganda machine.A good example is the overall stance of UE countries political heads and public or billionaires owned medias on Palestinians genocide. All rules put at the end of WWII in "Western" world to avoid a comeback of concentration of power in some oligarques, is totally destroyed. Public services are destroyed, hospitals, schools and other essentials services close. Only anti-citizen police is kept in place. On all citizen health security bills in regard of industry production (called REACH, for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), don't protect citizen but industry. This is the second time in 2023, after the one in 2006~2007.The whole monster really need to be restarted from scratch.

@popolonYes, and now, I am not working for their PR, I'm not even a member! but there was some good stuff going on, and maybe it can be rescued; https://diem25.org/a-propos-de-nous/I would really like to see the good things about cooperation as a continent continue, and I was a bit upset to see all the potential to widen cooperation (russia, asia, latin America) get scuppered in order to be the usa's bitch :blobPikaSad:

@popolon iiuc: well, there is a good example of why one should never just take the first thing the search comes back with. :-) In fact bypassing generic internet "search" might be a good habit going forward, rather than the one stop shop "search" engine. you know.. I'll go direct to the python documentation for er... python questions, or to a dictionary for questions of grammar. In this case, https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=IIUC

@kino I thought about the name of an European union institution instead. I don't use a specific engine I use a meta engine, searxng, and ban some engines (include one of the most popular), but agree that something better than depending on public engine should be done. That was what done Seeks before, it mixed meta-search, self improving and p2p, need to have new maintainer, never had the courage to do it. There is yacy that use about the same principles, but with the heaviness and recurrent problems of java as basis :(.
