I've said this before, and I'll say it again. And I'll keep saying it until everyone stops fucking everything upFor fucks sake, STOP UPDATING YOUR SHITThe world would be such a better fucking place if everyone would stop changing their damn software. We don't need new APIs, we don't need new Codecs, we don't need new instruction sets. We don't need to learn a new UI that doesn't bring new functionality. Leave this shit alone. I swear to fucking god, I regret every update install ever. Stop.

I'm plenty capable of breaking my own computer, and fucking up my own themes and configs. I DON'T NEED YOU TO DO IT FOR ME.

I need to download all the package sets for a distro, burn it to read only storage, and just never download anything again.

@linc I had to update to install drivers (grrrr drivers are the worst. Fuck drivers even harder)And I will never understand people who like to break shit for no reason, or people who blame every opinion they don't like on opposing political parties the opinion holder may or may not even be associated with.

@OpenComputeDesign political parties?I was using the word in a more literal fashion: you want to preserve your current state instead of moving with the times.

@linc Oh, that's kinda fair I suppose. Although, I want to stay with states that work, rather than moving to ones that don't, especially when they bring absolutely no benefit. My computer can do no more now than when I started using Linux in 2016, and at the time it could only to marginally more than Windows XP could. If it wasn't for rapidly dwindling support from web browsers and games, I might not have even made the switch.

@linc Although, 2016 web honestly had better support for 2002 browsers than 2023 web has for 2007 browsers, or even 2014 browsers. We seem to be breaking support at a rate opposite of adding new features. So you can understand why I'm salty

@OpenComputeDesign sorry for not adding something meaningful to the discussion and trying to amplify your saltiness. You have a point. But I guess this dilemma is in the nature of capitalism, where the goal is not to make users most happy with products, but increases profit to no ends.

@linc Well, the discussion up until that point was comprised mostly of F-bombs and little else, to be fair :P

@OpenComputeDesign Everybody likes change, as long their are the bringer of change- Benno Rice, FreeBSD DeveloperBut is it the point to always get better, to have better features that better fill more needs? at least in the context libre software?
