I just had to grill a prime filet mignon well-done for a visitor, and now it’s time for shame drinking.

Hank Hill handled this situation appropriately.

@tek Also correct protocol if they ask for ketchup or A-1 with the steak.

@halfwitamerican I had mine with garlic butter and salt, with sautéed mushrooms. There was no ketchup at this table. I have my limits.

@binsk There’s no accounting for taste. There may be judgment for it, though.

@tek I mean, it reminds me of the story I heard about the housesitter who drank his brother's entire bottle of Johnnie Blue and told him "it's really smooth when you mix it with Coke."

@binsk Was that part of a crime drama where they were explaining the motive behind murder?

@cinja @killab33z That’s the way. A nice sear to start with to lock in the juices, and then not a whole helluva lot more.

@tek woah now. Best way to cook filet mignon is to quickly put a crust on both sides basting with some oil, garlic and rosemary, remove from heat, slice off crust and repeat until there's no red meat. Otherwise there's no flavor in a filet. Now, I'll talk medium with a bone in ribeye, otherwise give me the burnt ends of whatever you're grillin…

@Whiskerkenbrook Burnt is different from overcooked. I’ll sit down with a fork and platter of burnt ends any day of the week.

@tek Ooh…you mean they actually wanted it grey in the middle and not just crusty? Yikes…

@Whiskerkenbrook That’s what I'm sayin’! Crusty with a warm pink inside is there it’s at. Grey all the way through is an abomination.
