Any NAS folks live in or around Washington DC? Whats it like right now? My son is desperately wanting to go up there for his 10th bday in May. I would love to make it happen but a little nervous given the circumstances of this country...just looking at possibilities.

@TheCM 10yr old, I'd wait until he's at least 13, he'll be too old at that point for the politicians. 🤣 Sorry, poor attempt at humor, I'm drunk.

@TheCM What's attracting your 10 year old to Washington DC?I have heard when planning a visit that the best time to go is when Congress is on leave. Everything is cheaper for tourists.Washington DC is not a safe place even for adults. Maybe visit with a Tour Company would be the safest depending on where he wants to go.

@Faelyn Is it stupid I don't know when they are on leave? Lol. Mainly the spy museum and bible museum as well as some of the smithsonian. And he wants to ride the train to get there.

@TheCM For train travel I always ride first class, more safety there. Not sure how close it is to museums.I would grab a hotel near the museums and walk around to them. Stay together & keep minimal items on you. One thing I carry is a throw away for pick pockets or thieves. A wallet with petty amount of cash in it in to "offer up." Wear socks with zippers and calf wallet for important things. Good travel books out on DC in libraries/book stores. Town set up for tourists.

@TheCM Can’t speak for now but I was there 2 months ago for work and visiting family and it was totally cool. I was nervous too but had a blast.
