I know we’ve all talked about how we haven’t given any attention to how many people are still grieving the loss of family they have experienced due to COVID. I also think we aren’t giving enough attention to the real grief one experiences when they realize how few people in their life and in their community actually care about their fellow man. How many of us feel like we live in some strange land, and/or that everything we once believed turned out to be a complete lie?

@DrPsyBuffy @jadevol I will never get over bad behavior, willful ignorance and selfishness that had become and still remains common in society. “We” are NOT “better than that”, a saying people invoked when confronting boorishness and evil, appealing to a better nature in society.

@DrPsyBuffy I totally expected the pandemic - it was in the media, we were statistically overdue for one. I had been keepinng a stockpile of N95 masks for like 15 years because I figured when the next pandemic hit they might be hard to get.I could never have predicted masking becoming a political issue and when the first anti-mask protests started I had a sinking feeling that we were never really, truly going to recover from this pandemic. That sinking feeling hasn't fully gone away.

@sidereal @DrPsyBuffy Same. If it's any comfort, the hope I cling to is that all of this has happened before, and we got over it then...https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Mask_League_of_San_Francisco

@DrPsyBuffy Sadness or grief connected to Covid has become taboo… we’re supposed to have ‘moved on’ and acknowledging the pandemic in any way other than a distant past tense is a social faux pas. I can’t even begin to imagine what that does to someone processing the death or disability of a loved one, a kind of enforced never-ending denial stage,… it’s awful.

@DrPsyBuffy Never again. Unless it makes me miss my beer league bowling, dining in at Olive Garden, or* makes me miss work in a job I hate.*(Note the operant use of OR, not AND. Any one of those above and I'm a hardcore social Darwinist.)
