I wrote Raven Stone, which is available for preorder now. The biggest setback has been self-publishing it because of content restrictions imposed by my usual service. As for next year, I want to write the sequel, but I'm worried the story I come up with will be awful and meandering.

I wrote The Pagan Revival which can be found on Amazon. The biggest challenge was not necessarily the story but the syntax. The editing process took the most time but I am very pleased with the eventual result.

Finished the draft of "Skin in the Game," changing the resolution slightly based on some excellent feedback from the Discord Quills Society critique group.Completed a short story about Orson Welles being visited by mysterious men in black like those of UFO lore. Discovered no publication paying professional rates is interested in publishing that story.Outlined and wrote a few pages of "Proceedings of the Pierre Menard Book Club," a story about the members of a book club where books are discussed as if they were written by other authors, e.g., "Mommie Dearest" ghost-written by Truman Capote. (As one minor character describes it in the early exposition, "That's the most pretentious thing I've ever heard of.")As always, what slows me down is not making regular time in the week to write, doing almost all my writing Saturday mornings at a local coffee shop.

Little to none actually. My conversion process from brother laptop to modern laptop has been a slog, be it with researching how to fix it Vs blunt force translation directly. Only meaningful work done was Sherlock Homeboi but it’s unfinished.

My main setback was waiting for an artist who took a long, long time to get to my stuff. So I had to turn around and find another artist. Probably set me back 8 months for releasing my book.

Major setbacks owing to moving multiple times and home renovations and everything else. Had hoped to get "The Hand Holding the Knife" out before Thanksgiving, but it's going to be spring now. Which means less time to spit shine "Turning Point" for summer and I still have to work on "Bearer of Bad News" for next winter <_> Ack

I can't remember exactly when I started, but the only writing project I've really focused on this year is my hand-written rough draft of Tale of a Northern Son. As this time, it's nearly done, just currently working out the details of the climactic scene. After it's done I may take a break from it for a while, then I'll begin typing it out and put what's there under heavy scrutiny.

I've accomplished a lot, though it doesn't feel like it, because my major goals got pushed to the wayside yet again.I've written a spattering of short fiction and completed a novel length project as well as prepared a number of novella length works for publication. I also made an audio version of Wand Smoke: Broken, available for free (though that's less a writing goal and more of a publishing one).(Adding in post: I completed a couple east Asian philosophy texts in my Meditations blog series).Due to financial strain, surgery, and other obligations, I wasn't able to progress hardly at all on Wand Smoke: Rebirth or the Discourses stories (though I did complete one and nearly complete another). This new Year I hope to find a better work-balance that allows me to complete what has gotten thrown onto the back-burner. Something in me says that the Discourses stories especially will be better received than most of my other works, and once I have them written, I can finally cobble together that literary magazine I've been wanting to publish.

I had new ideas for stories, but wasn't able to do them from worl-related problems and stress. Even then, I might look for another job that pays better before I might resume writing stories again.

I wrote 7 novels. 8 if you include a total rewrite. 3 fantasy, 4 sci-fi. My experimentation with serialization was a mixed bag. People really enjoyed my style of writing but my story composition was awful because I didn't go in with a plan. Ultimately, despite failure writing serials was a net plus to learn what works and what doesn't regarding developmental organization. I have a new novel in progress, the first for 2024 and am experimenting with writing for games.
