       @alejandrobdn ight I'll take the bait, here's the second image result I found for MATE desktop, looks pretty modern doesn't it? almost like the writer of this article used a small resolution and ugly theme for the mate desktop screenshot to make it look old

       @jackie I disagree with the author, let each user use what they want. And yes, if your DE is ugly is because you want or don't want to spend time to make it pretty, something that per se is not bad. However, I was amused by how the author states his opinion.
