       i had genuine respect for colin drumm as an independent scholar trying to work outside the academy until he started going eco-authoritarian this year and it genuinely makes me upset b/c the dude is smart + passionateanyway this line of thinking is fractally wrong. from the success of ostromite commons, to aspirations of freedom emerging in basically every culture, to countless examples of environmentally destructive tech being promoted b/c it serves power

       also LMFAO at treating any sort of philosophy, but particularly *political philosophy* as being isolated to a bunch of big names talking it out. bottom-up aspirations and informal discussion have played an immense role in shaping ideas, to say nothing of cross-cultural dialogue. genuinely frustrating that someone who claimed to reject the academy kept its emphasis on treating figures in isolation

       @mutual_ayyde I've always been wondering when some leftist would come out and say something along the lines of "freedom is a European modernist construct and it's bad because it includes things like the freedom to kill people, destroy the environment, etc." so it's kind of satisfying to know that I haven't been making up a guy to get mad at, but also annoying to know this person actually exists.
