Hi everyone! I was wondering how you guys replicate your zfs data.Do you use packages like Syncoid to automate? do you use your own script? send things manually (painful...)?I'm curious to know...#ZFS #BSD #backup #automation

@jcamos I'm using zfs-autobackup. I've described my typical setup here: https://it-notes.dragas.net/2022/05/30/how-we-are-migrating-many-of-our-servers-from-linux-to-freebsd-part-2/

@stefano Thank you Stefano! As usual, you're always helpful 🙏 I did read your article (in fact, all of them 😄), but I'm curious of all solutions I can get! That's how sometimes you find interesting solutions.I've been experimenting on sanoid and syncoid and so far it's very nice, but I would say "still not ready for production...? at least for the syncoid part"cheers!

@jcamos I've tried sanoid/syncoid and it's ok, but still prefer zfs-autobackup. I've also tried zrepl - and found it quite interesting.

@stefano @jcamos this!FWIW, this is a bit of a survey/overview I did of this priblem space not long ago:https://evilham.com/en/blog/2023-ZFS-replication-tools/(Apparently it got covered on @bsdnow and I juat realised a couple days ago https://www.bsdnow.tv/526 )My TL;DR is that there are very simple tools that do some parts of the job well as Stefano mentions, and if your needs grow, zrepl is very likely what you'll need.Also, at least for me, sanoid/syncoid doesn't cut it either.I'd jump straight to zrepl :-).
