Capitalism needs the economy to grow, yet we have exceeded the global ecological growth limits decades ago, so the world economy must inevitably shrink, and the longer we keep it from shrinking and try to keep it growing, the more brutal and lethal the eventual collapse of the economy will be.#πολυκρίσης #polykrisis #polycrisis

@LordCaramac You have valid point(s).However, because of the history behind anti-capitalism I doubt changing to an alternative is possible without the use of force, and look how that turned out last time. (Thinking of Russia)Also, many people misunderstand the definition of social democracy, socialism and communism. @Snowshadow @timo21 I'm an anarchist, I think that some autoritarian state taking over would be only marginally better at best. I believe that instead we should have no centralised state at all but meshed networks of people organising their lives directly, sharing resources and the necessary work, and everything should belong to everybody. Property is theft.

@Snowshadow @LordCaramac Our defense against the ultra-wealthy is worker unions. Workers unions have been fighting against the ultra-wealthy since industrialization started. A lot of people died in that struggle. They got a lot of their demands enacted into law. Then it seems like people relaxed, and the ultra-wealthy came back for retribution. Same with farmers co-ops, there seemingly used to be a lot more co-ops, but people relaxed and wall street attacked.

@Snowshadow @LordCaramac (slightly off topic) I just considered that what happened to unions and co-ops is similar to the Threads - Mastodon situation. If we consider Mastodon to be like a co-op, the wall street backed Threads is coming for us.

@timo21 @LordCaramac Yes, I feel the same about Threads. Meta is nothing but a giant corporation-doesn't care about democracy or it's customers.I am migrating away from here to an instance where it will be blocked. Haven't made a choice yet, but need to soon.Adding Threads is also like forcing a woman to return to an abusive husband. Not acceptable. Too many haters/trolls.

@Snowshadow @timo21 @LordCaramac I get it, but am quite concerned what happens to votes when progressive voices voluntarily exile themselves from wider society?If the only currents tugging on floating voters are ultra right rich elites and hostile foreign states it's going to go really badly.Isn't it important that floating voters still hear progressive voices & their truths?We can have multiple accounts on the #Fedi, my view is a lot more pragmatic, some accounts need to resist.

@ArtBear You have made a good argument for "junk accounts". I have an email junk account to catch the spam from subscriptions. Why not a resistance account on fediverse? That way, we could avoid the trashy comments on the days we want reasonable conversation, and engage with the others when we feel up for it.@timo21 @LordCaramac

There are many people on the server, to cater to.Our first post was to try and unblock @icedquinn@blob.cat, @realcaseyrollins@social.teci.world, and @jeffcliff. Because they are good faith actors.But two messages and no response.Again they have thousands of people to consider so we need to balance our efforts against that.
