I remember watching the 1st season of TNG and it was memorable (new Trek!) and interesting. The whole "First run syndication" thing and all.I have memories of watching season 1 on my Commodore 128 color monitor using my VCR as a TV tuner. Now I'm watching the hi-res remastered episodes on a 65 inch TV.Things have changed so much, but being there in 1987 was pretty amazing because we had all been asking for new Trek, and it finally happened.#AllStarTrek #STTNG #WhereNoManHasGoneBefore

@Ricardus I remember watching TNG back back in '87 on my 25" Sony color TV as well as my 19" Zenith black and white TV (with the rabbit ears). While S1 wasn't as strong, I enjoyed the episodes and glad the show was able to improve and gain momentum in S2 and S3 when it stepped out of TOS's shadow.

@joewynne @tarasovich I had been going to Star Trek Cons all through the 80s, and when we heard a new show was in development we couldn't wait. There would be more and more info as time passed and we went to more cons, and then it happened!

@Ricardus Quite the vintage year, then, eh?My dad suggested it to me. He was not a fan of sf, himself. But he had heard of it somehow and kind of passingly said, "I'd expect you to like this 'Trek' thing that's coming up." I was a month shy of being eight years old.Never became a "Trekkie," nor really even a "Trekker." But I did love that show and will still watch a TOS rerun from time to time. All so-called Trek since TOS is crud, mostly.

@stevensrmiller It would have been fun to be there in the beginning. Just catching re-runs in the 70s was fun, but by then they were pretty edited.

@Ricardus It did make you feel connected to something. I'd say following the right Twitch streams can be similar. One odd effect it had: my friends who also liked it and I started saying to each other "I wish I hadn't been born yet." The metaphysics of that still make me take pause.

@stevensrmiller I used to have this meme that said "If Starfleet were a real thing my life would be so different right now,"
