Really, though: if you’re serious about making headway with any kind of degrowth/“postgrowth” strategy, enacting a ban on advertising is where you want to start.

@adamgreenfield Could you elaborate or point to a text where you elaborate? I am very interested in this topic and feel like I would not agree as this approach focuses on reducing consumption. I could imagine advertising being used to shape consumption, even be part of a democratically organised post-market economy.

@malteengeler @adamgreenfield The book "Adcreep" is really good. Ubiquitous advertising as we understand it effectively didn't exist until the early 20th century.
