@grayladywriter sometimes it's harder to say that Croatia and Bosnia isn't Serbia because they have one language. But the religions differ. So once Ustaše movement appeared, tried to win favor of the Reich by clamining Bosniak Muslims and Croat Catholics are akin to Germans, and Serbs are subhumans. Hitler of course noted they're all Slavs and Slavs are supposed to be subhumans anyway

@Helgi If you go to Belgrade and ask for kruh without using the “da li” construction, you’ll get asked to leave. Same with asking for hleb in Dubrovnik. The languages have evolved apart significantly.

@grayladywriter the Russian apart from Ukrainian probably never have been one language, to evolve, Belarusian has most of the vocabulary similar to Ukrainian, Russian is as different as Polish, lost mutual intelligibility. Like English und German

@grayladywriter oh, yeah, since Russia is about to "invade all of Europe to reestablish the USSR", right. Like saddam was taking newborn babies out of the NICU, we have to find some way to escalate this latest US-backed proxy war. Meanwhile Ukraine's own court system just concluded that the trigger for this war - the Maidan massacre - was done by far right Ukrainian forces occupying a Ukrainian hotel. But it's already baked in, isn't it. So just run with it. Can't stop now.

@milkman76There hundreds of these photos and films taken by various participants in the events, including journalists from dozens of countries. "Berkut" snipers were not really hiding anywhere, they fired right from the middle of the street. Not surprisingly, FSB general Beseda arrived to Kyiv just before the February massacre to advise them.The trials were going for years mostly because the key suspects have escaped... to Russia. Same as with Odessa fire investigation, where the people most responsible — Fuchedzhy, Budko, Bodelan — escaped to Russia and were later granted well-paid jobs, as if in recognition of their role in escalating these events. Russia has of course denied any legal help in these investigations.And no, GayZone won't tell you about any of these.@grayladywriter

@kravietz @grayladywriter@mindly.social you are speaking to someone old enough to have lived though the cold war and all the US backed, sponsored, directly involved conflicts, coups, and nonsense over the last 40 years, by the way, and I know a bit about the history between US/NATO/CIA/Ukraine/Russia/ww2, etc. I'm probably not going to listen to a US state dept-aligned view of the conflict we've helped start there.

@milkman76 I was born in 1970’s in Eastern Europe and I’ve seen anti-Russian protests in 1980’s and all the misery imposed by Russian occupation. Then I was going to Russia from 2000 until 2020 almost every year and saw the Putin’s abuse. You can go read your GrayZone, but please stop bullshitting me.@grayladywriter
