@w7voa back in I think it was 2007, Newsom came to my firm in SF and spoke to me, spoke to my coworkers, and begged us for votes. He showed up at the local bars with his personal assistant, asking us what our main issues were, and marriage equality was a big one. So he campaigned on that, he offered marriage certs to gay folks AHEAD of the fed legalizing it, in direct conflict, and then he used that political capital in every election since. AND NOW THIS. THIS IS NEWSOM.

I bet those marines know about the 2nd amendment, and their current relationship to it.How does it go again? When the state deploys a military to occupy domestic spaces during peacetime (this is peacetime), the second amendment is invoked. I wonder if those marines know about that? I really do. I bet many of them are very young.

Which is why the democrats defeated him, then ignored his policies, ignored his constituency, ignored (helped along) a genocide, pretended an ongoing pandemic is over, and made sure the left has no real voice in politics. @wjmaggos @caityjohnstone Im not sure I follow. 30+ year net/sysadmin here - youtube isnt a social network, and I dont make a habit of diversifying my risks in terms of bluesky, threads and their more right-wing, more mainstream user bases. Mastodon is as low as Ill go, thanks.

I thought there was a war going on between the US/Ukraine and Russia, and Ukraine has been supplied with weapons and money enough to cover their entire GDP for 2 years and running. Ukrainian war pages constantly talk about exchanges of weaponry, but you are saying its a war against civilians eh? Not a war, then? That certainly waters down the ACTUAL war against civilians (genocide) happening also with US backing. Strange wording.

@nanook @MalcolmNance I don't watch TV. Haven't for over 20 years. Im a student of history and I do a lot of research, and it isnt confusing or hidden knowledge at all. Especially since it's all in the congressional record. Did you know the US congress debated the issue, and agreed to quote "allow US congressional funds and weapons to fall into the hands of Azov neonazis", specifically, years before any of this happened? Is the congressional record "tv" friend?

@nanook @MalcolmNance wait so you understand that the US congress funded and supplied Azov, but you also see my analysis of America's latest proxy war against Russia as an "msnbc" story? I don't really follow. This can be viewed in the congressional record, cspan, etc. The US also shot down peace talks twice, and this is certainly not a "war against civilians" any more than ALL wars are. Calling it that in this world, right now, of course is a tactical decision that hurts Palestine.

@stux I don't know what that is, but I've seen 3 or 4 interviews with Thor/Jason, im not confused about who he is at all, and I appreciate the efforts he has put into stop killing games? When every image is fully described by a human in embedded text, and the mood behind the disability activists pushing the initiative turns from "can you please use alt text for vision impaired?
