I did wanna be a bartender at one point but then I realized having to deal with customers seems like pain so I'd rather not

@Paradox Jill Stingray vibe is a city thing, really. In small towns the crowd is gonna be a boomerish kind of way. At least here.

@epsi Thing about doing that in the city is you can totally be sacked for being slightly rude. I figure in a small town, that could pass better. Though it worked for Jill cuz she works at a hole in the wall, I suppose.

@Paradox small town isn't that different, only you have more of a chance of having to work with drug addicts these daysperhaps in a bygone age small town bartenders could be like that but not in the late boomer era, again, at least here

@Paradox I would love that vibe though, I just don't think there's a place here that can support it now

@epsi Hmm. Maybe rude is a bit too broad. She... doesn't mince words. She's not excitable, but she's good at not losing the social advantage a good mixed drink gives her. Maybe even capitalizing on it. It's been a while since I played the game. It's always seemed to me that small city people are more personable on average, because they're removed from the chaos and cultural dilution that cities have.Of course, that's only part of the story, but that's the vibe I get. Perhaps your local area is on the other end of that spectrum.

@Paradox I've been to a few in Canada and the US and the vibe is more personable and chill, but can also more judgey, gossipy, conformist. They do a lot to stiffle the type of va11-hall-a vibe from being present.Vincent from Collateral says of LA that "it's a million people together but no one knows each other", and from what I see small towns are "a few hundred people who know each other very well but gossip about private lives non-stop". It's hard to have that open and chill vibe with that.

@epsi Hmm. Maybe it's a dice roll. I just keep thinking about the twats that act up at a McDonald's because they got 9 nuggets in a ten piece order, or some shit.

@Paradox that can happen less in small towns, if they know each other, except if you get touristsSome of my family owns a restaurant/bar in a small town that gets "tourists" in the summer and they are the worst
