I wrote a post about how I did an application for Windows... "#Guix + #Zig + #NSIS for the win…DOWS?"https://ekaitz.elenq.tech/windows2.htmlFinally find some tools that help me do things for a wider range of people. Good stuff.

@ekaitz_zarraga Thanks for this great post ! I had wanted to investigate how feasible Guix made it to develop for Windows and it's really useful to get feedback on the concrete issues you faced.

@alice There are many things i'd like to improve in guix to make this easier. Bash-minimal is a huge problem. Many packages need it and it's a blocking point for them... we should make it available for mingw to really unleash the cross-compilation potential. In my case, Zig helped but it's not a silver bullet, as it can't replace complex configure scripts easily (like the ones you can find in GUI frameworks).I still need to research further!

@ekaitz_zarraga Yeah I'm kinda surprised that such an innocuous-looking package could be such a source of trouble. Does that mean one should implement bash for windows? Shouldn't that come for free with the WSL?

@alice There are non-wsl things that include bash too. Git's vanilla installation install bash but I don't think it does it in the WSL.I think bash can be built for windows but I'm not sure about bash-minimal or why are they different. This is a Guix problem more than anything else.
